Inspiring hope and
transforming lives

Since 1986, NVCSS has offered hope across Northern California. We serve over 84,500 individuals and families annually across six counties, providing housing, mental health care, nutritious food, and support for stronger, more stable north state communities.

In all we do, we are guided by these principles:

  • Respecting the dignity of human life from conception to death

  • Calling for participation in family and community

  • Advocating for the poor and vulnerable

  • Benefiting people by contributing to their freedom and independence

  • Serving One universal family

Nearly 40 years ago, Northern Valley Catholic Social Service (NVCSS) was founded by a dedicated group of local parish priests, Catholic community members, and deacons who saw a growing need for compassionate, community-based support. In this video, our founder shares the story of how those early acts of faith and service grew into a mission-driven organization serving six counties across Northern California. We invite you to listen and learn how that same spirit continues to shape our work today.
